Overview
The Backyard BBQ is a Nairobi-based pop-up dining experience built around good meat, good company, and no fuss. The founder needed a website that could handle the full event lifecycle — communicate the vibe, show the menu, take reservations, and tell the story behind it.
This was a full commissioned Framer build across nine pages.
Process
The design direction was warm, intimate, and tactile — the opposite of a corporate restaurant site. Dark backgrounds with fire-toned photography, a serif display typeface, and hand-drawn brand elements (the signature cow illustration) give the site a personality that feels personal rather than polished.
The homepage leads with a split layout — full-bleed grill photography on the left, quick-access tiles for Menu, Reservation, and Our Story on the right — with event details (date, time, location) anchored at the bottom. Everything a guest needs before they commit is visible above the fold.
The menu page is the centrepiece — Starters, Mains, Desserts, and Drinks laid out in a clean editorial format against a dark background with a hero food image pinned to the left. The copy throughout carries the founder's voice: direct, playful, and specific about what's on the grill.
The reservation flow, about page, contact, and a thoughts/blog section round out the build, keeping the site useful between events and not just a one-time landing page.
Result
A nine-page Framer site that gives The Backyard BBQ a proper digital home — handling discovery, reservations, and storytelling in one cohesive build that matches the warmth of the experience itself.
